Growing Up with the Family Business
Skylar grew up about 20 minutes outside of Philadelphia and was still in high school when his parents, Barry and Kari, started Poconos Lake Rentals in 2010. He earned his Bachelor’s in Accounting from Penn State University and his Master’s in Accounting from Temple University, then spent two years in public accounting at Ernst & Young.
He brought that same financial rigor and attention to detail home to the family business. For guests, that shows up in the small things: clear answers, accurate details, and follow-through.
Helping Grow a Family-Run Business
Today Skylar helps grow and modernize the business his father and mother built, while protecting what guests value most: talking directly with an owner who knows the house.
Skylar lives in Huntingdon Valley, outside Philadelphia, with his wife and their two dogs.

Skylar and Barry are active members of the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau and the Poconos Association of Vacation Rental Owners (Poconos VRO), and our homes are listed with both. They also work closely with the boards and associations of the communities where our homes are located. The family lives a little more than an hour from the houses, and for years they’ve relied on the same trusted local vendors and neighbors, so help is close by whenever something comes up. And Skylar and Barry are always just a text or phone call away.
